My name is Dixie and I was born in OHIO. As a child in school I hated it - but it's unusual and I like unusual names so it's ok now. My mom wanted an unusual name that couldn't be shortened - SURPRISE! she was the first person to call me Dix. It's ok if you don't like the name, you can name your kids anything you like - that's the beauty of living in the U.S.
